Fiftyfabulous Knits, episode 12

What I’m wearing
Scrappy Stripes, a new design, currently being test knit. I have used Store Bjørn and Guldlok on the base Solstrejf, Bilate Grå på basen Storm – all Fiftyfabulous Yarns, and a Swirl from Ewe2Yarn.

FO’s
Dumpling Kitty i Drops Air.

Marcia the Alpaca from the book Animal Friends of Pica Pau.

WIP’s
Texas Tee – a new design I’m starting.

Dish cloth, using the pattern for the Purl Soho Half & Half wrap. I am using German Short Rows instead of Wrap & Turns. I cast on 40 stitches with two strands of 8/4 cotton on needles 3,5 mm.

Purl Soho Half & Half wrap in Linen Quill, color Peony Pink and my undyed base Salt & Peber. Again I’m using German Short Rows, amd I’m slipping the first stitch on every row with yarn held in front to get a nice edge.

My old Half & Half Wrap, knit in Drops Fabel, brown. I’ll be adding stripes on the second half.

Carlazzo top, knit in Winter Floral from Stress knits, held together with a strand of Drops Kid Silk, color 20.

You are fabulous, your podcast are so generously packed….I love style and eye for colour and stitch detail.

I wouldn’t say I’m an expert knitter, more an enthusiastic Intermediate. I have little faith in what I make so often hide it away never to be seen again. But I would like to change that around. You like me love doing things for your grandson. I love the items you make for both your son and grandson. Where can I find the sweater patterns for your grandson, and have you designed a cardigan for him. My daughter has asked me to make a cardigan for my grandson, something he can throw on when the weather gets cool but does not interfere with his play time….I’m sure you know how kids are, if it gets in the way they simply throw it off…
I hope you can help, I enthusiastically look forward to your next episode. God Bless. Beverley

    1. Thank you so much for all your kind words, Beverly!
I am writing up the pattern for the sweater I made for the men in my family, but it will take a while before it is published. If you want to get started sooner, I still have openings for test knitters – let me know if you would like to try that, and what size your grandson is.
For an easy cardigan, I would go to Drops’ website.. They have so many free patterns, and often they are quite simple. I would choose a sturdy yarn; as you know, I love Drops Lima for kids, because it is warm, and holds up very nicely – the alpaca content makes it strong.
I hope this helps – happy knitting!
