English pattern for Granny Vest

38,00 DKK

This vest is inspired by the knitted vests my father-in-law used to wear; V-neck vests, buttoned in front. He’d never wear them open, and neither would I – so I make a faux button band, and just attached it after knitting the vest itself in the round (avoiding miles and miles of purling…).

Suggested needles

3 mm (size 2.5 US) circular 60 or 80 cm/24 or 32 in for ribbing (using magic loop where needed)

3,75 mm (size 4 US) circular 60 or 80 cm/24 or 32 in for body (using magic loop where needed)

Gauge

20 stitches x 28 rows/rounds in stockinette stitch on larger needle = 10×10 cm (4×4 inches)

Note: Needle size is just a suggestion. Adjust needle size if needed to obtain gauge! Pay extra attention to your gauge when working the sleeves. Many knitters tend to have a looser gauge when purling. If this happens to you, you will have to go down a needle size on purl rows!
